Pekin Park District Mineral Springs Park to host Community Blood Drive Sunday, June 13th


Pekin, IL- Pekin Park District Mineral Springs Park will host a community blood drive from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13th at 257 Pavilion Drive, inside Lagoon Pavilion.

When: Sunday, June 13, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. 

Where: Lagoon Pavilion, 257 Pavilion Drive, Pekin, IL 61554

Appointments and masks are required: To donate, please contact ImpactLife Peoria at (800) 747-5401 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and use code 61257 to locate the drive. 

Donor Eligibility Criteria: Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through www.bloodcenter.org) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. For questions about eligibility, please call ImpactLife at (800) 747-5401. Donors who last gave blood on or before 4/18/21 are eligible to give at this drive. 

About Blood Donation: Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible doors.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
