BARD OPTICAL WELCOMES CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, SHELLY RAPP

Bard Optical is delighted to announce the addition of Shelly Rapp as Chief Financial Officer. 

Shelly has an extensive background in all aspects of accounting and finance as a CPA.  She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Bradley University and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from University of Iowa.  In her most recent position with OSF as a Strategic Ambulatory Program Manager, she participated in several special projects improving reporting, analysis and internal processes.  Her experience also includes roles as an Auditor with CliftonLarsonAllen and KPMG in their healthcare groups. 

Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband and kids and serving the community through her philanthropic efforts.  She volunteers her time as a tax preparer with the Center for Economic Progress.  She also serves as the Committee Chair for the Peoria Irish Fest and Chair of the McMahon-Illinois Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. 

Shelly’s broad and dynamic experience will make her a valued member of Bard Optical’s senior management team.  Shelly will oversee all financial operations of the business which has 21 locations throughout Central Illinois and an advanced optical lab in Peoria.  This year Bard Optical will celebrate its 80th anniversary as Central Illinois’ premiere eyecare partner.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
