Goodwill Unveils New Veterans Transportation Vehicle

 Peoria, IL – February 4, 2021 – Goodwill of Central Illinois has unveiled its new veterans transportation vehicle. The 2020 Ford Transit was funded by the Veterans Cash Lottery Grant, which is administered by the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.

The vehicle will be used by the staff of the General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans to transport the home’s residents. It is equipped with a safety canopy, side curtain air bags, Ford telematics and seats fifteen.

“We are very grateful to the IDVA for this grant,” said Goodwill President and CEO Don Johnson. “Our veterans deserve safe, comfortable transportation as they work toward their goals of independence.”

The vehicle will be housed at the General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
