Participants will learn more about the apprenticeship and
sponsorship programs ICC has available in the mechanical/technical realm. The
programs are a blend of valuable classroom (ICC handles the educational
component) and hands-on work experience at the partnering companies.
The events will be held on two of ICC’s campuses on different
dates to maximize exposure for people to hear about these opportunities.
Participants will receive an overview from ICC Associate VP of Workforce
Development Dr. Andrew Kerr of the program options, requirements and the
application process. Representatives from ICC Admissions, Student Services and
other supporting departments will be on hand to answer questions about the
process.
This is part of ICC’s broader workforce initiative, where
the college is partnering with businesses to fill skills gaps for high-demand
jobs in the fields of manufacturing, IT and health care and increase the number
of adults in the Greater Peoria region with a credential beyond high school.
The industrial/manufacturing programs are the first step.
