Pekin Hospital to Celebrate 100th Anniversary

Pekin Hospital will celebrate its 100th anniversary and raise funds for improvements in its Obstetrical Unit at the Centennial Ball to be held on June 1, at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria.

The community is invited to attend, and tickets, which are $150 per person, can be purchased by visiting www.pekinhospital.org/2013centennialball or by calling (309) 353-0559. The evening, which commences at 6 p.m., will include dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions featuring auction items generously donated by local businesses and donors. Entertainment will be provided by The Ralph Butler Band. Attire is semi-formal. Net proceeds from the event will help fund a fetal monitoring system for the Obstetrics Unit.

Some of this year’s silent auction items include a variety of getaways, wine tastings, electronics, and home décor items. Live auction items include: a sports fan getaway, New Orleans jazz and dining experience, Costa Rica five-night trip, Scottsdale four-night golf trip, and much more. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
