Goodwill Creates Endowment with CFCI

GOODWILL CREATES ENDOWMENT WITH CFCI

Peoria, IL – December 1, 2021 – Goodwill of Central Illinois has created an endowment with the Community Foundation of Central Illinois.

The endowment totals 3 million dollars and is funded by the gift received from Mackenzie Scott.

“This gift was given to our community, and our job is to protect it and use it and benefit others,” said Goodwill President and CEO, Don Johnson. “Investing and growing these funds will ensure that our community benefits for years to come.”

The first to benefit will be Goodwill employees who will now be eligible for a scholarship program. It will fund scholarships for college, trade schools and certificates. Goodwill programs will also benefit. For example, Goodwill will invest in a new van to be used exclusively by the Youth Services Department. Young people will be afforded transportation to and from activities, workshops, and other learning opportunities.

“We are delighted to partner with Goodwill and assist them in creating an endowment fund at CFCI. Creating this fund will ensure the generous gift received from Mackenzie Scott is preserved in perpetuity so that it will have a lasting impact on our community not just in our lifetime, but forever,” said Community Foundation of Central Illinois CEO Mark Roberts. Johnson continued, “Providing for our community is what you do with every donation. Goodwill received this gift because of the work we do, but this work would not be possible without your support.”
