Sixty-five chamber members and guests attended the February 14 Puttin' on Pekin breakfast at Rosati's.  Gail Nichting (CEFCU) won the early prize while Kristen (Allegra) won the late prize.  Ashley Finney accepted the Spotlight on Business Award on behalf of Allegra.  It was presented by committee member Blake Hunter, from CEFCU.  Committee member Debbie Fornoff presented the Blue Ribbon Award to Greg Cassidy representing TCRC.  The Sunshine Award was presented to Mark Eldridge representing Servpro of Peoria & North Central Tazewell County by committee member Jeff Brooks (Pekin Public Library.)  JD Dalfonso, CEO of the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau spoke to the group about the impact of tourism on the Pekin and regional economy.  You can see more pictures from this event at:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/skk4YnE7kWd5t82j6

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
