Fifty chamber members and guests attend the October 11 Puttin' On Pekin breakfast held at the Avanti's Dome.  Emcee Jeff Brooks (Pekin Public Library presented Gail Nitchting (CEFCU) with the early prize, and Justin Ellis (GIVSCO) with the late prize.  Sean Garrett, Jill Sitter and Kenneth Diana accepted the Spotlight on Business for East Court Village / Cullinan Properties from Chris Valentine (NRG Powerton). Charity Gullett and Rachelle Smith accepted the Sunshine Award from Blake Hunter (Steger's Furniture) on behalf of the Community Improvement Project of Pekin.  Mark Rennick, the marketing specialist for the Greater Peoria EDC presented information on the Shop Local 365 campaign and The Big Table event - two initiatives that have been organized by the GPEDC and the area chambers of commerce.  You can see more pictures from this event at:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/CtyQvq21Gxdc3rcg7

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
