December Puttin' On Pekin Recap

About 90 chamber members and guests attended the December 14 Puttin' On Pekin Breakfast held at the Avanti's Dome.  Dave Osborn won the early prize (again) and Eva Silva won the late prize.  Christmas entertainment was provided by Friends in Harmony - an amazing show for so early in the morning.  In addition to the regular door prize drawings, thirteen lucky people won year-end grand prizes.  Each were valued at over $300 and contained prizes donated by chamber members.  Winners had to be present to win, but the drawing included entries from all of the 2018 breakfast drawings.   The audience congratulated the winners, but had just as much fun when a name was drawn and the person wasn't present.  You can see more pictures, including all of the winners, at:   https://photos.app.goo.gl/oHo65t6nCZDEWd5U8

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
