Pekin Hospital Names Foundation Director

Pekin Hospital is pleased to announce that Sherry Semonis has been named Director of the Pekin Hospital Foundation effective June 23, 2014.

In her role, Semonis will focus on fundraising for the Foundation and planning the Hospital Foundation Ball.  Semonis has a long history of fundraising for the Hospital and other charities.  She has a special talent for organizing events to make them fun and interesting while recognizing key contributors.

Semonis is a past recipient of Central Illinois 25 Women in Leadership, primarily due to her involvement with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Her commitment to the community does not stop with St. Jude however.  She has also served on boards and committees for Kiwanis Club of Pekin, United Way, Crime Stoppers, Family House, Pekin Main Street, Susan G. Komen, and the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce.


Bob J. Haley, Pekin Hospital Chief Executive Officer, said, “We are very excited to have Sherry join our team.  The experience she brings Pekin Hospital is invaluable.  She will truly be an asset in our fundraising efforts.”

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
