95.5 GLO Football Frenzy For Fall 2013

WGLO, 95.5 Peoria’s Classic Rock is getting ready for Fall’s Football Frenzy.  Fridays through Sundays will feature football broadcast starting with high school, moving to college, and ending with the NFL.

On Friday nights, we return for our third year of high school football coverage with 95.5 GLO’s High School Red Zone Game of the Week.  Doc Watson, WGLO Afternoon jock, and Bruce Cowdrey, Peoria’s popular and successful pro football coach, are teaming up to provide play-by-play coverage of Central Illinois’ top high school football games.  Each week we will also feature live reports from two other games in the area from our team of reporters including Tom Meredith, Matt Hall, and Robert Hahn.  Inside the studio, Jason Glick will be running the board with assistance from Jay Williams.  Jason also helps keep Bruce and Doc updated on all the scores from other high school match ups.  Check in with 95.5 GLO early in the week to find out where the Red Zone will take them each week.  Our first match up will be the Richwood Knights versus the Notre Dame Irish.  Our pregame begins at 7 P.M. with kickoff at 7:30 P.M.

Saturdays will feature University of Illinois football.  Head coach, Tim Beckman is in his second year, looks to improve upon their two win eleven loss season.  He looks forward to having the Fighting Illini return to a bowl game this year as the last three years feature two wins in bowl games.  This year will feature another tough Big Ten schedule wrapping up the season against Northwestern.  This weekend, WGLO will feature the Fighting Illini’s season opener against Southern Illinois.  Kickoff is at 11 A.M.

To wrap things up, WGLO will have coverage of every 2013 Chicago Bears game.  We have already started with preseason coverage of the Monsters of the Midway.  This is the first season with new head coach, Marc Trestman.  He will also towards returning the Bears to the playoffs as they narrowly missed them last season.  Trestman is a more offense driven coach in comparison to recently departed head coach Lovie Smith.  The Bears also lost their defensive captain, Brian Urlacher, to retirement.  We will see how Jay Cutler and Lance Briggs lead the team while adapting to this new coaching system. Catch all the action in their season opener on September 8th, as the Cincinnati Bengals pay a visit to Chicago.  Kickoff is at 12 P.M., with pregame beginning at 11 A.M.
