Big R is now in Pekin

Come to the opening Thursday, July 14th to be one of the first to explore their huge selection from 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM. The store is located at 3315 Court Street. Mark your calendars for the GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION which will be August 26, 27 and 28th.

Maloof Realty supported our efforts by facilitating and negotiating a deal with the property owner that fit our budget."


Opened in 1965, Big R provides quality merchandise that "Saves Big. Every Day" including lawn & garden, plumbing, electrical, pet feed and supplies, work and casual clothing, automotive products, sporting goods, firearms, ammunition and farm supplies, including livestock feed. A repair shop offers service on Big R’s wide array of power equipment, including walk behind mowers, lawn tractors, blowers, chain saws and string trimmers. Big R provides convenience for the farming community, pet lovers, experienced tradesmen and Do It Yourselfers. Ed Ensminger, Director of Purchasing, said "We will have over 90,000 square feet of retail display for our inventory of over 100,000 items.  All of us at Big R are from the Midwest and we know our customers' needs."
The store hours will be: Monday – Saturday 8:00 am – 9:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm.

With the addition of Pekin, Big R now has twelve locations in central Illinois and northern Indiana. The Indiana locations are Crawfordsville, Marion, Michigan City, Wabash, and Warsaw. Illinois locations include Danville, Gibson City, Morris, Pontiac, Tilton, and Watseka. Big R has been serving the Midwest for over 46 years. Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
