Tom Hornstein Elected to Board of Directors at Herget Bank

(Pekin, Illinois) During Herget Bank's annual meeting on February 8th, Tom Hornstein, the President and Chief Operating Officer for Excalibur Seasoning Company, Ltd., was elected to the Bank’s Board of Directors.

A graduate of Bradley University, Hornstein holds an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Illinois State University. He brings insight from his experience in business and as an active member of the community to his new role on the Board.

Hornstein is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pekin Chamber of Commerce, Pekin Insurance Companies and Pekin United Way. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees for Peoria Notre Dame High School and is actively involved with St. Jude’s VIP Fundraiser.

McNally, President – Central Illinois Freight Handling; Ronald H. Miller, Managing Director – Prisma Advisors, LLC; Gordon M. Walker, Chairman of the Board & CEO – Pekin Insurance Companies; and Charles R. Schermerhorn, President & CEO – Herget Bank, N.A.; along with Director Emeritus: Sylvan L. Franklin.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
