Executive Director’s Report

By Bill Fleming

New Employee
I’m pleased to announce that Tonya Burris has joined the staff at the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce.  Tonya’s customer service and communications skills and experiences will be a great addition to the office.

She has 10 years of experience in Pekin real estate as a Licensed Assistant and a Realtor.  She is a member of several industry associations and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Peoria Area Association of Realtors.

Tonya will be working in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to assisting callers she’ll be focusing her energies on our online communications, i.e., blogs, monthly newsletter, websites, social media, etc.

Tonya resides in Pekin with her husband Greg, and their daughter Ali.

Credit Card Payments
The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce can now more easily accept your credit card payments.  This includes payment for your dues, event registrations and other invoices you might receive from us.  If this would be more convenient for you, just give us a call the next time you receive an invoice from us.

We can process your credit card over the phone. We accept Discover, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express cards.

Chamber Membership Growth
The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce added 44 new members during our fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2010. That is the largest number of annual “adds” we have seen during my 9 years as executive director. That may come as a surprise to some, given the poor economy. And the trend hasn’t stopped. During the first two months of this year we have added 12 more new members.

Why? I believe these new members understand and appreciate the value of the benefits provided by the chamber – over $1,000 in benefits just for joining and over $2,000 in benefits every year. If you don’t think you’re getting the most out of your membership, give us a call and we’ll be happy to provide you with a benefit review
