Methodist Names January Employees of the Month

(January 13, 2010)-Methodist Medical Center has announced the January, 2010 Employees of the Month. Their peers in the areas of patient care, nursing, and non-nursing support recognize three separate employees.

The three selected were Judy Click, RN of Morton, selected for the category of Nursing. She works in Home Care Skilled Nursing. Also selected was Lisa Bessler of Sparland for non-nursing support. Lisa works for Methodist Medical Group in Lacon. And for the category of Patient Care, Steve Goldring of Canton was selected. He works on the 7 Crescent patient floor.
All three will be honored at a hospital reception on Wednesday, January 20, 2010.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE. Crescent Ave in Peoria. The event is free but space is limited. Reserve your seat by calling 671-5121.
